Happy New Year everyone and welcome to your first boudoir newsletter of 2010!
2010 is going to be a fantastic year with a new air of optimism. And I’m not talking about the economy finally coming out of recession or should I say not going deeper into recession at least.
After the hardships of 2009 you need a pick-me-up. And the power of boudoir should not be underestimated when it comes to giving you the boost you desire. There is no doubt that boudoir photography is a liberating experience. It maybe something you’ve dreamed of for a long time but held back due to personal hardship. Maybe you’re feeling down and feel apprehensive. The power of boudoir photography maybe a secret in the UK but in Canada it’s out in the open. Canadian boudoir photographer Mark Laurie now offers boudoir photography as a therapy at doctors’ surgeries!
Things have been moving quickly over the last few weeks as Inner Beauty Photography steps up a gear. It has bought a little chaos but that is a good thing.
After my superclass with international portrait photographer and instructor Bjorn Thomassen, I’ve come away with many great ideas for exciting new products and incentives that you’ll love. But more on this over the coming weeks.
The UK Portrait Group have created a new category for boudoir photography, which I’m offering as a creative partner. Their intention is to offer a boudoir makeover at only £99 including a 20 x 8 inch print in a mount. Expect to hear and see a lot from the UK Portrait Group in the coming weeks as they’re about to launch a massive marketing campaign across the UK to promote the Pride of British Photography.
I’ve been giving the UK Portrait Group Boudoir Makeover a lot of thought over the last couple of weeks and how I can add a £99 makeover with existing luxury boudoir experiences without loosing any exclusivity. And I’ve come to the conclusion that we’ll have a special makeover day once a month where the whole experience would last one hour in total including make-up. Also the complimentary print will not be retouched in Photoshop unless also bought as a finished product.
This will be more akin to your high street makeovers; except ours will maintain excellent lighting and guidance in posing from me. And you won’t be conveyor belted through the whole process to pop out the other side with a high pressure sales assistant selling you rubbish photos!
Also bringing in an idea from Bjorn, I’m going to change my Impression Experience from four hours down to one. That’s at least one hour being photographed plus make-up beforehand. This will be £150 commission and then you’ll choose your finished products after viewing your images on a later date. For those of you who still desire a four hour experience, I’ll incorporate it into the Ultimate Experience. You’ll then have the choice between buying a commission experience or complete package with ten fantastic 16 x 12 inch mounted prints in a presentation portrait box.
OK this is a bit heavy going for the newsletter. But here come’s the bit you’ll love. And the reason I’m taking a gamble and telling you everything before it goes live.
We’ve set aside Saturday 27th February for our very first Boudoir Makeover day!
If you’ve been sitting on the fence for while, you love the idea but aren’t really sure, this is your perfect opportunity to try before jumping in with both feet and taking the full experience.
Kick start your new year with a pick-me-up confidence booster.

Studio Changes
Having sufficient wall space to have display pictures has been a problem in the studio. Previously I’ve made a point of displaying certificates for photographic qualifications and awards but with running out of space even for those it was becoming a dilemma.
It then struck me that clients barely give a passing glance and no one has ever asked what they’re for. After all, you don’t care what awards or qualifications I’ve got and why should you. What is important is seeing the finished products. Only then can you appreciate how amazing you’ll look. You’ll be the perfect gift.
All the certificates and awards have been filed away in our junk room. They’ve been replaced with one Intimate pregnancy photo in an ‘ICE’ Sandwich acrylic picture frame.
Just a few days after standing the picture on a shelf (I’ve not even mounted it on the wall yet) a couple came for their free wedding consultation.
Neither of them could take their eyes off the picture
The product is very contemporary and finished to an amazing standard with the print sandwiched in the frame. The vivid colours and sharp detail on the Fuji Professional DP paper print draw you into the detail of the image.
After admiring the fine work of art for a few moments they both turned to me and remarked how beautiful the picture was.
I’ve since ordered a few more pictures including a canvas wrap and will develop my new wall space over the coming months.

Photography Tip
This month’s tip is to help your portrait photography. You’ll see a more in depth discussion in one of the articles above but here is the simple guide.
Positioning your subjects eyes correctly can make the difference before a great snap for your family album or one for the bin.
The simplest way to position their eyes correctly is to ask your subject to look at something that is directly in front of them. And get them to look at something at a slightly raised level so their eyes open up and they look wide awake rather than half asleep
For example if they’re looking directly at you, ask them to look at your forehead or at your hat if you’re wearing one. It doesn’t sound like much change but the smallest of changes can make huge differences.
We hope you enjoyed this month’s newsletter and look forward to hearing from you soon.
