Welcome to the very first Inner Beauty Boudoir Newsletter!
To be honest I’m not totally sure what should be the format for this newsletter. But I am sure it will evolve over the next few months. In the mean time I’ll just make it up as I go along
The initial format will be; General news, special offers, list to previous month’s articles and then finish up with a simple photography tip that you’ll be able to apply to your personal photography. I’ll also ask Imke to share some make-up tips. This newsletter will come out monthly around the end/beginning of each month.
You’ll also receive a series of articles that will be of genuine interest if you’re in the process of considering your boudoir photography, whether you choose me or someone else. This will ensure you have the information you need to make an informed decision. These will be sporadic to begin with as I haven’t written the articles yet.
You have joined this newsletter via www.InnerBeautyPhotography.com and will have noticed that there isn’t much content yet. This is because I recently rebuilt the web site from scratch to combine a blog with the content. The aim to build an on-line community interested in the fascinating world of boudoir – that’s you!
Don’t be shy
Don’t be shy, share what’s on your mind. It doesn’t matter whether you’re considering going for a boudoir session, you’re a photographer or simply a genuine enthusiast for fine art – join in.
There was life before www.InnerBeautyPhotography.com And you can view many older boudoir related blog articles at www.patb-photography.co.uk/category/confidential-portraits/

Photography Tip
OK this month’s photography tip is so simple everyone can do it and take better photos!
When you next take a photo of one of your friends or family outdoors look for an area of shade. Depending on where the sun is this could simply be a wall, house or even a hedge. If you’re out in the open look for top shade under a tree. This will remove the harsh light causing contrasty photos.
If no shelter can be found – shoot towards the sun. This is known as contra-jour, which literally means “against the day”. This has two main benefits; your subject(s) is not blinded by the sun and squinting. And their face(s) will be in soft light and will not have deep shadows under the eyes. The bright light shining on your subject’s back will cause a halo of light around them, which is called rim lighting. Not only does this look pleasing it gives added separation from the background.
The only thing to watch out for with contra-jour is under exposing your photos as the bright back light can fool your camera’s exposure meter. If you can adjust your exposure compensation – you may need to add plus one stop exposure compensation. Alternatively you may need to switch on your flash but this will reduce the effect of the soft light.
There is always new things going on, so stay tuned for next month’s newsletter. And keep in touch!
