UpperCup is a company specializing in lingerie designed for bigger boobed women.
UpperCup was founded by Essie in 2003 after many challenging years of finding suitable lingerie especially bras that fit and give the right support.

When I asked UpperCup if they would consider an interview, I wasn’t really sure what their response would be. However, I’m delighted that they took the time to discuss their products with me, which I can share with you now.

IBP: Finding bras designed for bigger boobed women is challenging and finding attractive lingerie is virtually impossible. Could you let us know how UpperCup tackled these problems?
We searched the Internet and even travelled to America, as they are renowned for larger sizes. After visiting the New York Lingerie Show we were introduced to new brands that specialised in larger sizes.
IBP: Looking through your range of lingerie, UpperCup supplies several household names such as Triumph and Gossard. These brands go up to sizes above what readers are likely to see in the high street. Why do you think larger sizes are not available in the high street?
Larger lingerie is usually more expensive, due to its imperative support and design. The high street regards plus size as a “specialist” area so therefore it is not mainstream enough or as popular for them to regard it as necessary to stock.
IBP: As an on-line company what come back do your customers have?
For example, there can be great variation in size and shapes between manufacturers. From personal experience I know that often bra straps are set far too wide apart. Just because you’ve got big boobs doesn’t mean you’re built like an American footballer!
To help assist our customers, a guideline has been developed by ourselves to compare each brand and their sizes, which can be found on our website. We understand that most of our UK customers may never have tried our US brands, so we offer free UK returns if the item doesn’t suit the individual needs of our customers.
IBP: Being at the leading edge of a niche market celebrating full figured women; where do you see the future trends in larger size lingerie going?
Choice, and loads of it. Already us larger ladies can feel fabulous and sexy with bra’s that fit, look and feel great. Hopefully the future will see companies recognising this niche market and therefore start catering for it.
