As a boudoir photographer, boudoir photography encompasses the whole genre of intimate female portraiture. Everything from glamorous head shots through to breathtaking nudes.
A more specific view may restrict it to photographing you in your boudoir. Your private room. This is the view that inspired our classic boudoir studio set that uses a draped luxury burgundy velvet. And this is probably our most popular set for boudoir photography

This image was taken on a glamour photo shoot in Felixstowe during the summer. despite being summer it was a dull overcast day, so I used a remote flashgun to enhance lighting. It was shot using my portrait lens with a wide f/2 aperture to achieve the very shallow depth of field. Click to continue…
Last night I edited an image from a recent boudoir photography session and just had to share this image with you.
To me this is what beauty photography is all about. The lighting is wonderful creating deep shadows, which make it evocative and sensuous. She’s been posed to emphasize her curvy figure and looks sensational. Just a few red rose petals in her hand is symbolic creating a story to the image.
It’s not every day I get excited when editing my images. If anything it’s oh if I did this or didn’t do that.
But this was different.
I just had to say “WOW” to myself after retouching.

It’s also great to see a few guys have joined up for their partners to give them the perfect gift – good for you!
The last month has been dogged with illness. First I had a bad cold so postponed a few sittings and then clients have postponed theirs for the same reason. Next month will be busy to get bookings complete in time for Christmas.
Over the last week we’ve had workmen working on the back of our house installing windows and fascias. This includes a window in the changing area from the studio. This will help keep the studio even warmer for your winter boudoir sessions. I also plan to do some paining in quiet periods to maintain the studio and surrounding areas, in particular the cloakroom door frame that looks a bit tatty after having a new door installed a few months ago.
I’m in the process of creating a complete new design for my wedding photography website, www.patbWeddingPhotography.com, to improve the clients’ experience. The new design will enable visitors to see much larger images (on the home page), and easily find information thus improving the overall experience. This will be rolled out onto www.innerBeautyPhotography.com next. Don’t be surprised if the site looks different next time you visit!

Beauty Tip – False Eye Lashes
This month I thought I’d share a beauty tip that Imke and I actually picked up a while ago from a keen amateur actress. Jennifer came to the studio for a 50s pin-up photo shot, as her husband and her love the fifties fashions.
We’ve seen several ladies really struggle with false eye lashes. You know how it is; The eye lashes keep falling off or doesn’t sit tight against the eye lid. It’s not due to a lack of glue – they usually have big dollops of glue surrounding the eye lash. I’ve even witnessed a beautician preparing a bride have this problem during bridal preparations!
There are two keys to successfully applying false eye lashes
1.Only apply a thin layer of glue along the edge of the false eye lash
2.Leave the false eye lash to lay for a minute or two until the glue starts to go off and becomes tacky. Then when you put the eye lash in position it will stick instantly and be held tight against the eye lid.
Voilà – it’s easy when you know how!!!
Poorly fitting false eye lash, which has come away from the eye lid and blobs of glue are visible.
Here you can see how a correctly fitted eye lash should look. No visible glue and tightly seated to her eye lid. These are extra long false eye lashes for the fifties look.
